Better Endings is the house brand of Luma Software Oy, a software company in Helsinki, Finland. We build four apps covering the end of life and what follows it.
Why four apps and not one
Grieving your mother and planning your own funeral are not the same task, and an app that tries to be good at both is good at neither. Pet loss in particular gets folded into general grief support and handled badly, because the guilt that follows a decision to euthanise has no equivalent in human bereavement. So we build them separately, and share only what genuinely transfers.
How we build
Everything is written to be used at two in the morning by someone who is not coping. That means no streaks, no gamification, no notifications designed to pull people back in, and no wellbeing dashboard reporting anyone's private use to their employer. People tell these apps things they have not told anyone.
The company
Luma Software Oy is registered in Helsinki, Finland. The apps ship in thirteen languages, and the end-of-life planning content is adapted for sixteen countries — the paperwork after a death is different in every one of them, and generic advice is worse than none.
